Good conservation practice requires, firstly, a clear understanding of the history and significance of the building and its site, and secondly, a sound philosophy for considering the appropriate degree of repair, conservation and intervention. Of equal priority is the need to meet the client's brief in terms of the end use of the building and, where necessary, to resolve any conflicts between the two. We believe that any such conflicts are capable of resolution given an informed and sensitive approach. |
