THOMAS FORD & PARTNERS
MASONRY
Much of our repair work involves stonework in one form or another whether the Portland Stone and Kentish Ragstone familiar in London, Flint, Yorkshire Sandstone or the more unusual variations found in every county, we enjoy working with masons to get the combination of stone, mortar and workmanship just right. Brickwork also varies enormously and the sourcing, and sometimes making of bricks, for a particular building can be an important part of a project.
ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL
ROCHESTER
An ongoing programme of repairs to the masonry at the Cathedral has included reinstatement of profiled weatherings and some of the decorative detail.

Cleaning masonry often forms part of a programme of work in order to identify the repair needs as well as to enhance the appearance of a building. Trials are important in deciding whether cleaning will cause any damage or if leaving a degree of patina will help blend in earlier repair patches.
