A successful project to convert a former Board School in Hackney into apartments led to a commission from the developer to extend his own home.

 

There were two distinct parts to the project, which was situated on a prominent site in the Chislehurst Conservation Area. The first was a large two storey side extension, containing a garage with bedrooms and study above, which was carefully detailed to match the original house.

 

The second was a two storey rear extension facing the garden. This was constructed entirely in structural glass – walls, roof, and intermediate floor – making an exciting modern addition to the building
