WAKEFIELD CATHEDRAL

WAKEFIELD

We have carried out a series of phases of work to the Cathedral, both of repair, in particular to the medieval timber roofs, as well as a major internal reordering.

As part of the reordering, the floor of the Cathedral has been re-laid in local sandstone, incorporating underfloor heating on a limecrete base and including a labyrinth in contrasting Holmfirth stone as a focus for worship and private contemplation.

The walls have been cleaned and repointed and a new state of the art lighting scheme installed in collaboration with Light Perceptions as part of a major overhaul of the electrical installation.

The font was repositioned to enhance its setting and form a focal point for those entering the nave.
