NEWARK FEASIBILITY STUDY

NEWARK

We were appointed as members of a multi-skill team to identify ways of revitalizing Newark Town Hall and Butter Market, considered by our local authority client to be essential for the good health of the in-town retail economy.

Spaces in the fine C18th Town Hall leant themselves to an events-based solution that also included Council functions, offices and a museum to display the town’s art and local history collections. Six options identified for potential use of the Market Hall & Butter Market involved combinations of activities such as a specialist food market; antiques market; retail; food and beverages; managed work spaces; indoor play and a cinema.

Each of the options considered was assessed in terms of market viability, implementation cost and commercial yield allowing the Council to make informed decisions about the future development of this part of Newark.
